Make your steps count: Big Walk Fundraiser for RESTART Lives

Studies show that those who are homeless walk between 10 and 15 miles per day for basic needs like food and shelter. This summer, homelessness charity RESTART Lives is asking you to join the Big Walk Fundraiser challenge to raise vital funds to help people in need.

On Sunday 8th June, we’re inviting you to be part of a movement, and to walk a lap of Hyde Park with Carlowrie Group and RESTART Lives. As we walk, we’ll take time to think about all of those who have to walk to meet their basic needs. You’ll help raise awareness of some of the lesser known burdens of homelessness, and raise vital funds to provide dedicated support.

This fundraiser is for participants of all ages, though under 16s needs to be accompanied by an adult. The entry fee is ÂŁ30 for an individual, ÂŁ100 for any group of four whether that’s a family or friends and ÂŁ25 for every extra person joining your group. Sign up here.

As an optional extra, between now and the 8th of June, RESTART Lives are asking participants to set themselves their own walking challenge. It could be a big walk like the South Downs Way, the Thames Path or the Cotswold Way. Maybe you choose to hit a daily, weekly or monthly step count or distance count. Get creative and do something that challenges you! Everyone will be raising funds on JustGiving as part of the campaign, and supporters love to see you go the extra mile (pun intended).

We’re all going to enjoy plenty of walks in the sunshine this summer, so why not make it count? Your support could be the difference between being able to offer support to everyone who approaches the charity, and having to turn someone away in their time of need.
